The global production of aluminum was forecast to grow 66 percent between 2020 and 2050, in a business-as-usual scenario, to surpass 171 million metric tons in the latter year. In a net-zero emissions scenario, production would grow some 50 percent in the period. Meanwhile, production of ammonia, steel, and cement were expected to grow between 36 and 49 percent in a business-as-usual scenario.
