Oil rents as a share of GDP in Egypt 2000-2020
In 2020, Egyptian oil rents represented 2.1 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This represented a drop from four percent of the GDP compared to the preceding year, and was the lowest share during the observed period. Since 2000, oil rents have fluctuated significantly, peaking in 2005 at 12.3 percent of the GDP, while they were lowest in 2020.
