In 2022, 25 percent of the respondents of a survey in the U.S. were very concerned about vehicle tailpipe emissions contributing to smog, haze and other types of air pollution. On the other hand, the percentage of people not concerned about it were eigth percent.

The survey measured Americans’ knowledge and experiences with electric-only vehicles, their likelihood of getting one, and their perceptions about barriers preventing and incentives that would encourage them to get a battery-only electric vehicle.
The survey also assessed Americans’ awareness about low carbon fuel usage in vehicles and aviation.
The interviews were conducted both in English and Spanish and were administered both online and by phone.
The margin of error for results based on the total sample is +/-1.59 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
*7,795 by web mode and 232 by phone mode, 7,820 in English and 207 in Spanish.
