In 2022, a survey conducted in Zambia showed that Coca Cola was the preferred brand of carbonated drinks. A share of 75 percent of respondents preferred Coca Cola. Conversely, 17 percent of respondents reported a preference for Pepsi. The two giants of the soft drinks industry have a long history of global competition. Furthermore, the Coca Cola company has had higher growth in Africa than in Western markets in recent years.
