Following the return to "normalcy" after the COVID-19 pandemic, online food delivery services face lower demand and stiff competition in the global market. Since January 2021, several startups in the sector have announced layoffs. By April 2024, Istanbul-based Getir had laid off approximately 8,900 employees and announced it was exiting European markets.
