In 2022, the share of correct answers in a financial literacy survey in Japan was 55.7 percent. This represented a slight decrease compared to 2019 when respondents answered 56.6 percent of financial knowledge questions correctly.

*Sample size of survey conducted between February 25 and March 14, 2022. 25,000 respondents were surveyed in previous surveys.

Respondents answered 53 questions related to financial literacy in eight different categories, including 26 knowledge and judgment questions and 27 questions related to behavior and ways of thinking. The share of correctly answered questions here refers to the 26 knowledge and judgment questions.

The sample roughly approximates the composition of age and gender in each of Japan's 47 prefectures in the 2020 population census.
