Cancer is estimated to be the cause of around three million deaths in China in 2021, making it a major cause of death among the country's citizens and a substantial public health challenge. The death rate varied significantly between different types of cancer. With a death rate of 48 per 100,000 people, lung cancer was by far the most deadly among China's urban population, followed by liver cancer and stomach cancer. The death rate among the male population was significantly higher than that of the female population, both in urban and rural regions.
