The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for energy in Germany increased to 164 index points in October 2022. This was the peak HICP index value recorded in the period of consideration. In November 2024, the HICP value stood at 146.1 index points. Energy prices fluctuated over the past six years as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine, and the Israel-Hamas war. This has also been reflected in the HICP for energy in the European Union.
