Global energy consumption share for heating and cooling 2019, by energy source
The most common energy source for heating and cooling are fossil fuels. In 2019, fossil fuels accounted for some 72.5 percent of the total final energy consumption used for heating and cooling. Traditional biomass use represented 11.9 percent of the total consumption share.
