Barriers to having children Russia 2022

According to a survey conducted in June 2022, 43 percent of respondents in Russia who planned to have children in the future said they were not financially ready to become parents as of now. Approximately 39 percent named the lack of partner as the biggest barrier to having a child. Inadequate housing conditions were a factor for 29 percent of surveyed individuals.

The final sample consisted of 37 percent of men and 63 percent of women. Among respondents, 18 percent were aged 18-25 years; 20 percent were aged 26-30 years; 25 percent were aged 31-35 years; 19 percent were aged 36-40 years; and 18 percent were aged 41-45 years.
