The construction output prices index for new industrial properties in the United Kingdom (UK) surged in the first quarter of 2022, marking the biggest quarterly increase. Since 2015, which is the base year for the index, the cost of construction of industrial buildings has risen by over 30 percent. In just one year, between the first quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, the index grew from 118 to 130. One of the major factors that contributed to this dramatic increase was the rising cost of construction materials.
