Global wafer foundry capacity is expected to increase by 14 percent in 2022. Although there would still be an increase in 8-inch wafer production capacity, 12-inch capacity is projected to dominate the foundry production, with a growth rate of about 18 percent. Of this, the mature process would occupy the majority share, with advanced processes taking a backseat. The figure shows that the proportions of production of the two types of processes would stay more or less constant through to 2024.
