In 2021, gaming apps accounted for 42 percent of global app downloads in the Google Play Store, representing the most downloaded app category for Android users. By 2026, downloads of mobile gaming apps on the Google Play Store are estimated to account for 44 percent of the total, while tool apps will account for roughly seven percent of all Android downloads.
