In 2021, construction projects in Africa undertaken by Chinese companies registered a gross revenue of around 37 billion U.S. dollars. In the previous year, the value was higher, at roughly 38 billion U.S. dollars. Moreover, within the period reviewed, the highest gross revenue of Chinese companies' construction projects in the continent was achieved in 2015, at over 54 billion U.S. dollars. Overall, nearly 94,000 people of Chinese nationality worked under contracted projects and in labor services in Africa as of 2021.
