In 2022 Apple Inc. spent between seven and 7.99 million euros on its lobbying activities in the European Union (EU). In 2018, the year in which the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect, the company's lobbying efforts almost doubled, going from 1.125 million euros in 2017 to 2.125 million euros the following year. Apple lobbying efforts have been directed toward a number of EU initiatives, including the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which proposes to ensure a fair level of competition in the European market among tech and digital companies.
