In 2023, Google spent between six and 6.49 million euros on its lobbying activities in the European Union (EU). The online company's lobbying spend in the EU peaked in 2018, when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect. It is expected that with the upcoming Digital Markets Act (DMA) and Digital Services Act (DSA) that Google's lobbying expenditure will increase again.
