According to a survey on pet ownership conducted by Rakuten Insight in January 2022, 23 percent of Taiwan respondents who got their pets during COVID-19 lockdown stated that it is because they had plenty of time to look after a pet. In comparison, around 16 percent of surveyed pet owners who got their pets during coronavirus lockdown said they did it out of boredom.
