Gender gap index APAC 2022, by country
In 2022, New Zealand had the highest gender parity score in the Asia-Pacific region, around 0.84. This equals an average gender gap of approximately 16 percent in the country. New Zealand had the fourth-highest gender parity score worldwide that year. In contrast, Japan was the worst performing country in East Asia and the Pacific, reaching a score of 0.65, which represents a gender gap of around 35 percent. Overall, Afghanistan had the lowest score in APAC at around 0.44, showcasing the highest level of gender inequality across the region.
