As of June 18, 2024, Brazil was the country with the highest number of confirmed mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) cases in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a total of 11,212 cases. Colombia followed, with 4,249 confirmed cases of the disease by that time. Other affected countries in the region included Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Argentina.
