Share of employment in travel and tourism in Africa 2019-2021

In 2021, jobs in travel and tourism made up a share of 4.8 percent of total employment in Africa. The percentage increased compared to 2020. That year, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic disrupted the African tourism industry, and the sector's contribution to employment fell to 4.6 percent. In 2019, previous to the health crisis, jobs in travel and tourism amounted to 5.7 percent of the total.
