According to a 2023 survey conducted among 24 banks from India, 80 percent of the surveyed banks indicated an increase in long-term credit demand for the infrastructure sector. 65 percent of the surveyed banks stated a rise in long-term loans for the textiles sector.
Increase in demand for long term credit in India from January to June 2023, by sector
India's financial year begins in April and ends in March. For example, FY 2023 started in April 2022 and ended in March 2023.
Increase in demand is calculated over the previous six months period.
A total of 24 banks including public sector, private sector and foreign banks participated in the survey. These banks represent 79 percent of the banking industry in terms of asset size.
