In May 2020, a survey of people's gambling habits in Australia during the coronavirus crisis found that the prevalence of gambling by both males and females had decreased in comparison to April 2019. By November 2020, the prevalence of gambling by males had increased, however had not yet reached pre-pandemic levels.

The May and November 2020 ANUpolls collected information from 3,219 and
3,029 respondents aged 18 years and over across all eight States/Territories in Australia. 94.7 per cent of respondents who completed the November 2020 survey also completed the May 2020 survey. 54.6 percent of respondents who completed the May 2020 data collection, also completed the April 2019 collection.
