In 2021, the most widely used primary bank account to receive salary in the United Kingdom (UK) was Barclays, as 22 percent of the employees used them for this function. Barclays was followed by two challenger banks, Revolut and Monzo. The share of employees using Revolut and Monzo bank accounts to receive their salaries was 18 percent and 17 percent, respectively. In total, 55 percent of the employees used incumbent banks, while 45 percent used challenger banks to receive their salaries.
