The Netherlands was the main destination for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exported from the United States in 2023. In 2022, some 378.4 billion cubic feet worth was shipped to the Netherlands. In 2022, there was a notable shift in main importers as European countries scrambled to find alternatives to Russian-sourced gas. As a result, of the ten largest importers in 2022, seven were countries in Europe.
