In 2022, the share of general practitioners' patients affected by two or more chronic diseases in Italy was about 25 percent. This statistic shows the prevalence of daily use of five or more medications among patients with at least two chronic diseases. The use of five or more medications increased together with the number of chronic diseases, peaking at 92.1 percent for individuals affected by eight chronic diseases, but decreased to 86.7 percent for patients affected by nine diseases.
