According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2020, around 23.7 percent of elderly people living in the province of Jeonnam stated that they experienced symptoms of depression. This put them ahead of the national average by over ten percentage points. Four other regions were also above the national average, including major cities such as Busan and Gwangju.
