Since January 1, 2018, vaccines against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) have been mandatory for infants born in France. The vast majority of children born in France in 2019 were thus immunized against these very contagious infections which are due to viruses.
Since 2016, the MMR vaccination coverage (with at least one dose at 21 months) increased from 90.8 to 92.2 percent among infants. Furthermore, roughly 84 percent of the cohort of children born in 2018 received two doses (at 33 months).

Supplementary notes
The MMR vaccine is a vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella, abbreviated as MMR. In France, vaccination against measles, rubella and mumps is compulsory for infants born since January 1, 2018: it is carried out by injecting a dose at 12 months and a second dose between 16 and 18 months.
Data for one-dose MMR vaccination among the 2016 cohort and two-doses MMR vaccination among the 2019 cohort are not available.
The data analysis excluded the French departments for which the DCIR* does not allow reliable estimates of vaccination coverage, due to the significant proportion of children vaccinated in PMI where vaccines are provided free of charge by the Departmental Council.
*DCIR stands for the inter-regime consumption datamart which contains all the city care reimbursed for beneficiaries of the Health Insurance. It makes it possible to carry out studies on the consumption of care by beneficiaries and the practices of health professionals.
