The majority of consumers in Japan bought drinking milk on a weekly basis as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2021. More than nine percent of male respondents purchased milk daily, representing a higher share compared to their female counterparts. Overall, more than 64 percent of women bought liquid milk on a weekly basis, while the share among men reached less than 59 percent.
Apart from pasteurized cow's milk, drinking milk in Japan refers to a range of processed products such as nutrient fortified milk, low-fat milk, and milk with additional cream, among others.
