Most downloaded fashion and beauty apps in Canada 2023

In November 2023, the marketplace app Shein, most notably known for fast fashion practices, was the most downloaded fashion app on mobile devices in Canada, with over 275 thousand monthly downloads. The athleisure app Lululemon followed in second with around 125 thousand downloads that month.

Canadian e-commerce trends

With the Shein, Lululemon, and Nike apps receiving so many downloads, it makes sense that Canadian online shoppers tend to favor big players in the e-commerce sphere—including generalist platforms. The e-commerce giant Amazon is not only the most popular online store in Canada, but also makes the list among the leading online stores in the fashion segment in the country. This lean towards well-known name brands coincides with Canadian consumers' initial slow speed in shifting towards digital commerce.

Slow development

While e-commerce growth in the country is inevitable, generally, Canada’s slow start to digital shopping still has room to develop. In comparison to online shoppers worldwide, Canadians generally expected to spend less on average across all segments in 2021. Within the fashion segment, only 17 percent of Canadians expected to spend more online, as opposed to the 28 percent average of global shoppers.
