According to a survey of B2B marketing decision makers in the U.S. carried out between June 2021 and May 2022, the lack of knowledge of which digital marketing techniques are more effective in delivering digital growth goals was signaled by 27 percent of respondents as the main challenge for their online marketing communication strategy. Difficulties in digitalizing the sales process were also reported by 26 percent of respondents as among the main communication challenges for B2B marketing professionals. Additionally, one-fourth of respondents felt they lacked the expertise to build a strong buyer's journey online.

According to the source, the surveyed individuals defined as 'B2B leaders': 'have a direct role in business or marketing decision-making at their B2B company.' Respondents could choose from “I have sole decision-making authority,” 'I share decision-making authority,' 'I have some input into decision-making,' or 'I have some insight into decision-making.' Those with no role in decision-making were disqualified from the survey. Al l respondents’ organizations sell products/services to “other businesses (B2B)” or 'Other businesses and individual consumers (B2B and B2C).'
