Hong Kong was the leading export destination of gold from Russia in 2023. In total, Russia exported gold worth around 5.2 billion U.S. dollars to Hong Kong in that year. Furthermore, the export value of Russian gold to Switzerland was measured at approximately 3.9 billion U.S. dollars. In June 2022, G7 countries banned gold imports from Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
