China aims to become carbon neutral by 2060. According to a 2021 forecast, when looking at the policy measures already announced by the government, an increased use of renewables would be responsible for 38 percent of total cumulative emission reductions. Investments in energy efficiency are expected to contribute 16 percent, while carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) would account for eight percent.
