The amount of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) used to manufacture all PET packaging in Europe was estimated to be 28 percent. Meanwhile, new bottles placed on the market used an average of just 17 percent of rPET, despite the recycling rate of PET bottles in Europe being roughly 50 percent.
