According to the 2023 survey conducted by PwC, the ETF functions predicted to experience the highest significant impact from AI in the near future were marketing, indexing, and portfolio management. In contrast, operations and compliance were the functions where more respondents believed AI would have a negligible impact.

Respondents were from the four main regions of the global ETF market: USA (36%), Europe (26%), Canada (21%) and Asia Pacific (17%).

PwC surveyed more than 70 executives from around the world in 2023, using a structured questionnaire. Over 80% of the participants were exchange-traded fund (ETF) managers or sponsors. The remaining participants were made up of service providers, market makers and other asset managers.
