In 2021, the share of general practitioners' patients affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Italy was equal to 2.9 percent. This statistic shows regional differences in this figure. The regions where the prevalence of COPD was highest were Campania and Basilicata, recording 4.3 percent and 4.2 percent of their inhabitants affected by this disease, respectively. In general, COPD seemed to be more common in Southern regions.
