In 2023, solar electricity generation in the European Union grew by almost 17.1 percent, when compared to the previous year. This was the largest annual growth recorded for the region. Meanwhile, bioenergy registered a year-over-year decrease of roughly eight percent.

Bioenergy includes generation from combustible renewables and may include waste generation (renewable and non-renewable).
Other fossil includes oil and petroleum products generation, as well as manufactured gases.
