In a survey conducted among media professionals from four major markets in the Asia-Pacific region in 2021, 87 percent of the respondents from India were somewhat or very concerned about the deprecation of third-party cookies and identifiers for advertisers (IDFA). In contrast, 49 percent of Japanese respondents stated to be concerned to some degree.
In 2021, Google announced that third-party cookies would be phased out from Google Chrome in the second half of 2023. As brands and agencies have been relying heavily on cookie-based consumer data for targeted ads, this is set to mark a significant change in the digital advertising landscape.
