Greenhouse gas emissions in China are expected to climb to 14.15 billion metric tons of CO2 by the end of 2022, according to a forecast from earlier that year. Preliminary data from the previous years shows that figures crossed the 14 billion metric tons mark for the first time in 2021 and are expected to reach a peak of some 14.4 billion tons by 2025. When taking into consideration current governmental policies, China is set to overachieve on its target of peaking emissions by 2030.
