Popularity of actor Johnny Depp in the U.S. 2022

In early June 2022, the share of adult internet users in the United States who expressed a favorable view of actor Johnny Depp stood at 55 percent, down from 68 percent about two months earlier. The surveys were conducted days before the start and days after the end of the John C. Depp, II v. Amber Laura Heard civil defamation trial, where Depp sued his former wife. The male actor is known for starring the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series, one of the highest-grossing movie franchises ever. Fellow actor Will Smith also experienced a decline in popularity after slapping comedian Chris Rock on the stage of the 94^th Academy Awards ceremony in March 2022.
