As of April 2022, the number of monthly active e-commerce users residing in China's lower-tier market amounted to 616 million, accounting for about 57 percent of the total e-commerce users in the country. Moreover, around 508 million lower-tier city residents actively used digital payments such as Alipay and WeChat Pay.
