The average acquisition price of hotel real estate bought by SCPIs in France was higher than for any other type of real estate in the first quarter of 2022. The square meter price of hotel real estate amounted to approximately 5,541 euros, compared to 3,357 euros for healthcare properties and 3,351 euros for office properties. SCPIs, or Société Civile de Placement dans l’Immobilier, are private companies that invest in and manage real estate. Similar to real estate investment trusts (REITs), which are widely popular in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, SCPIs issue shares and distribute dividends to investors. Unlike REITs, however, SCPIs cannot be listed on the stock exchange.
