In January 2024, Dong Yuhui rose to be the most successful key opinion leader (KOL) on Douyin, earning over 888 million yuan sales revenue in his live shopping sessions. Dong left Oriental Selection, the live ecommerce arm of Chinese online education company New Oriental, and started his channel “Walking With Hui”. His first livestream raked in over 160 million yuan in gross merchandise value (GMV) on January 9, 2024. Midodo came in second with 654 million yuan in sales revenue.
