When interviewed ahead of the World Refugee Day of 2023, more than one out of four Canadians was convinced that Canada must close its borders to refugees entirely, and that the country could not accept any at this time. This is a eight percentage point increase from the previous year, when 21 percent of Canadians shared this opinion, but the same as 2019, when Canadians holding this view also represented about 29 percent of those surveyed.
