According to a survey conducted in 2021, approximately 78 percent of Kenyans believed in free and fair political elections, which should occur on a regular basis. In contrast, 21 percent of Kenyans believed it was necessary to adopt new ways of choosing political leaders, as elections sometimes bring about unfavorable results. Additionally, one percent of Kenyans did not agree with either position or did not know.
Kenyans' preferred way of choosing political leaders as of 2021
Respondents were asked: "Which of the following statements is closest to your view?"
Statement 1: We should choose our leaders in this country through regular, open, and honest elections.
Statement 2: Since elections sometimes produce bad results, we should adopt other methods for choosing this country’s leaders.
