On average, 57 percent of the population in Africa had a connection to an electric grid in 2019/2021. Of those, nearly 40 percent reported having an electricity connection that works all the time, while the connection worked most of the time for 36 percent. Around one-quarter of people with electricity in the 34 surveyed African countries reported their connections worked about half of the time, occasionally, or never.
