Female Generation Z consumers in Japan showed higher interest in joining food trends than Millennials as revealed in a survey on dietary habits of Zoomers conducted in 2022. While the participation rate in the chicken salad food trend exceeded 46 percent for Gen Z respondents aged 16 to 18 years and 43 percent for the age group 19 to 22 years, the share was significantly lower among Millennials.
The survey further revealed that guilty foods that were trending in Korea during the coronavirus pandemic like Korean chicken, dalgona coffee, and ddungcaron were particularly popular among young female Zoomers in high school and university in Japan.
