From 2012 to 2022, around 3,000 people without a Swedish citizenship were convicted to imprisonment in Sweden annually. However, the number decreased slightly since 2018. In 2022, 2,900 non-Swedish citizens were sentenced to jail in the country. The same year, a total of over 10,000 people were sentenced to imprisonment in Sweden.
