According to a survey conducted in September and October 2021, around 65 percent of Australian residents with a Chinese ancestry said they had at least some confidence in Chinese President Xi Jinping to do the right thing regarding world affairs. In contrast, only 10 percent of representative respondents from the total Australian population indicated to have confidence in the Chinese President.

Survey question:
"Please indicate how much confidence you have in each leader to do the right thing regarding world affairs — a lot of confidence, some confidence, not too much confidence or no confidence at all."
The survey was conducted among 1,401 citizens, permanent residents, and visa holders (excluding tourist visa holders) in Australia who identified as having Chinese ancestry and had resided in Australia for at least one year.
The survey figures for the Australian population serving as comparison were taken from a different poll with 2,222 participants.
