According to a survey conducted in September and October 2021, around 64 percent of Australian residents with a Chinese ancestry said that they had a sense of belonging to Australia to a great or moderate extent. At the same time, 62 percent of respondents also indicated to have a strong or moderate sense of belonging to China.

The survey was conducted among 1,401 citizens, permanent residents, and visa holders (excluding tourist visa holders) in Australia who identified as having Chinese ancestry and had resided in Australia for at least one year.
