On June 14, the Russian company Gazprom announced reducing gas supply to Germany via the pipeline Nord Stream to 100 million cubic meters daily, allegedly because the German company Siemens had not returned the gas pumping units it took for repairs. According to news reports, gas turbines manufactured by Siemens Energy, which was spun off of Siemens in 2020, were maintained in Canada, and Canadian sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine prevent the delivery. Nord Stream is a 1,224 kilometer-long pipeline put into operation in 2011 and 2012.
